John Magoun is a teacher of high school social studies and other subjects for hospitalized students, as well as a tutor for college admissions tests. Prior careers include designing scenery for stage and film, for which he won a Daytime Emmy in 1996. At various times he has taken degrees from Harvard, New York University, and Columbia.
