Joseph Rex Young

Joseph Rex Young, PhD, lives in Dunedin, New Zealand where he pursues his research interests in the intellectual history of postEnlightenment supernatural literature. His most notable publication to date his 2019 book George R.R. Martin and the Fantasy Form, in which he links Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire novels to the fantasy tradition of the Inklings by demonstrating their common neo-Romantic impact. He has also published severally on the works of E.R. Eddison, explored intermedial fantasy readings of contemporary Polish surrealism, and taught at universities in New Zealand, Germany, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and could get a lot more done if he didn’t have to spend so much time on job applications.
