Anna Smol is a Professor of English whose research and teaching interests are in Tolkien studies, medievalism, and Old English literature. She has published on Tolkien in the Journal of Tolkien Research, Tolkien Studies, Modern Fiction Studies, and Mythlore, and in various edited collections such as A Wilderness of Dragons: Essays in Honor of Verlyn Flieger, Something Has Gone Crack”: New Perspectives on J.R.R. Tolkien in the Great War, and The Body in Tolkien’s Legendarium. She is a member of the editorial board of Mallorn and the principal investigator in a project on Tolkien’s alliterative poetry funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). She teaches at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Mount Saint Vincent University is located in K’jipuktuk, part of Mi’kma’ki, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq.
