David Means first discovered The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in his high school library in the early ’70s, and was immediately hooked. He has re-read the trilogy at least once a year since then, and has also read much of The History of Middle-earth series by Christopher Tolkien. David presented a paper at MiddleMoot 2018 covering the history of board games based on Tolkien’s works, and showed several rare Tolkien-inspired games from his personal collection. David also owns possibly the world’s largest collection of Scottish-themed board games, and is a member of the Kansas City Board Game Designers Group.
