Michael A. Moir, Jr.


Michael A. Moir, Jr. is Associate Professor of English at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia. He holds an M.A. in Irish Studies and a Ph.D. in English from the Catholic University of America, and has published on twentieth-century Irish poetry and drama, particularly the work of W. B. Yeats, Richard Murphy, and Louis MacNeice. This is his first foray into Tolkien criticism, though he has loved the Shire and those who dwell within since he first read The Hobbit in the third grade.
