Popular Culture Association

The individuals who comprise the PCA are a group of scholars and enthusiasts who study popular culture. The Popular Culture Association (formally the Popular Culture Association / American Culture Association) is a 501c3 which offers a venue to come together and share ideas and interests about the field or about a particular subject within the field. The Association also provides publication opportunities and sponsors the PCA Endowment.

The mission of the Popular Culture Association is to promote the study of popular culture throughout the world through the establishment and promotion of conferences, publications, and discussion. Aiding the PCA in this goal is the PCA Endowment, which offers support for scholars and scholarship.

The PCA actively tries to identify and recruit new areas of scholarly exploration and to be open to new and innovative ideas. PCA is both inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary. Finally, the PCA believes all scholars should be treated with dignity and respect.

    2022 National Conference: virtual

The 2022 National Conference has been moved into a virtual setting. The dates of the conference remain the same, April 13 – 16, 2022. The dangers of the COVID-19 variants, vaccination issues, and the pandemic-related funding cuts that many of us are experiencing all prompted this decision. I am happy to say that we now have a safe, accessible, and affordable venue without the risks involved in travelling.

Exciting and energetic, our 2022 event promises great conversations. Back by popular demand, the platform that hosted last year’s virtual conference will be even more user-friendly. We are working to ensure there will be more opportunities to view panels, visit with old friends and publishers, and network with new colleagues. As promised, our special celebration of the Popular Culture Association’s fifty years will continue. Our Book Room will offer the best publications and publishing opportunities in popular culture. We are also ensuring there will be opportunities for interested researchers to visit and discuss Seattle’s legendary, life-changing artifacts and culture virtually.

13 sessions, 23 papers. See the full listing here.
